How to Make a Beltane Spell Jar

Another fire festival has arrived! Follow along as we share a Beltane spell jar to amplify your intentions and manifestations.

Beltane Spell Jar

Do you want to celebrate Beltane and decorate your altar for this sabbat? Spell jars are a simple way to do this and you can use ingredients from your apothecary and garden!

The sabbat of Beltane falls halfway between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice, celebrating the fertility, creativity, and passion that this season brings. On May 1st, or May Day, we can honor the height of spring and the balance that is being invoked between light and dark, day and night, and masculine and feminine energies within us and on earth.

To honor Beltane, let’s conjure a spell jar! We’ve created this spell just for you, but you can adapt any of the ingredients and steps to suit your needs.

The Ingredients:

  • Beltane intention
  • A jar or vessel
  • Dried herbs for cleansing
  • Soil, moss and/or sand
  • Lemon Balm
  • Lavender
  • Rose Petals
  • Aventurine
  • Rose Quartz
  • Clear Quartz
  • A stick and ribbon

As you begin, reflect on your intention for this spell jar and the blessings that Beltane is showing you. For example, maybe you want to bring attention to and amplify a manifestation that you are working on for this season.

Start by cleansing your space, jar, and ingredients with your choice of sacred smoke. Burning herbs will honor the roots of this Celtic fire festival and banish any unwanted energies. Try choosing an herb from our list of Beltane correspondences below.

Before you begin putting your spell jar together, craft your maypole by tying ribbon to a chosen stick (preferably found in nature). Your ribbons could be the Beltane colors!

Start building your spell jar with a layer of soil, moss, and/or sand. Add enough that this layer will help your maypole stand strong. Then add lemon balm for healing and releasing, and lavender for tranquility. Next, erect your maypole in the middle of your jar and sprinkle rose petals around it to honor the union of energies.

Then, add your crystals! Add aventurine for abundance, rose quartz for love, and the master healer, quartz, to amplify your intentions and blessings. Lastly, place your spell jar on your altar or in a safe place!

Beltane Spell Jar

There are many Beltane correspondences that can enhance the energy and aesthetic of your spell jar. Customize your spell by including any of these correspondences:

Colors: Brown, green, yellow, blue, pink, orange.

Crystals: Aventurine, bloodstone, citrine, jasper, rose quartz.

Herbs: Lavender, lemon balm, marigold, meadowsweet, lilac, daffodil, mugwort.
