A Moontime Celebration Ritual

As we move through life, we are met with seasons and cycles. From the phases of the moon, to the change of the seasons and our inner cycles, we all move through life's natural shifts. Using the ritual tools in our January Sacred Cycles Box, learn how to create a moontime ritual for the cycles you are experiencing, regardless of having a monthly bleed.

Gather Your Ritual Tools

To create these moontime rituals, we recommend using a few of the tools found in our January Sacred Cycles Box. This is not mandatory but encouraged as each piece was created with these cycles in mind. Feel free to use other crystals, candles, or spiritual tools you feel more connected to. Remember that you don't have to practice this ritual during a menstrual phase! This can be practiced during the corresponding moon phase or season as well.

To begin, select the tools that correspond with the cycle that you are choosing to celebrate:

  • Red Candle & Obsidian - Menstruation, New Moon, Winter
  • White Candle & Clear Quartz - Follicular, Waxing Moon, Spring
  • Rose Gold Candle & Red Carnelian - Ovulation, Full Moon, Summer
  • Pink Candle & Rose Quartz - Luteal, Waning Moon, Fall

You can also use dried herbs and essential or anointing oils to anoint your spell candles.

Set the Space

Once you have selected the ritual tools for your cycle, take some time to cleanse the space that you will be practicing in. This can be done with sound, incense, or your favorite burning bundle. Allow negative energy to leave the space and welcome in positivity. When you have completed the cleansing process, set up your candle in its holder in a safe space to burn. We recommend leaving the candle to burn down in its entirety (approx. 1-2 hours), but it’s okay if you are unable to do that.

Conduct Your Ritual

Begin by finding a comfortable seat with your corresponding crystal in one of your hands. Tune in to the breath, with each inhale filling the body with positivity and each exhale acting as an opportunity to release what is no longer serving you. Feel the crystal in your hand and think about the specific cycle that you are choosing to honor. Take a moment to recognize the energetic vibration from the crystal and give thanks for the opportunity to experience life in these cycles, representing birth and rebirth and the chance to start anew.

When you are ready, slowly open your eyes and focus on the candle. If you have dried herbs or oils, now would be the perfect time to anoint your candle. If not, take a few moments to create intentions for this cycle. You can either speak these aloud or write them down in a journal. Light the candle and allow it to burn down completely (but if you need to snuff it out, it's okay!). After your ritual is complete, you can place your crystal on an altar, under your pillow, beside your bed, or carry it with you to remind you of the intentions that you set for this cycle.

Cyclical Rituals

The beauty of practicing this ritual is that you can do it whenever you choose, whether that's throughout the month with menstruation or the moon, or throughout the year with the seasons. Use this repetition as an opportunity to make your ritual your own. There is no right or wrong way to practice spellwork, as long as it is done with love and positive intentions.
